Corine Joensen

PLAY THERAPIST

B.A. Social Work
B.A. Intercultural Ministries
M.A. Play Therapy

Corine has always had a passion to help children. At a young age, Corine got involved in her churches’ ministry with people with intellectual disabilities. After completing her degree in social work, she worked for a couple of years with children who were mandated to government foster care and to juvenile delinquent care. She also has worked with children with intellectual disabilities as well as children diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder.

Since leaving the Netherlands to serve cross-culturally in 1999, Corine has lived the last 13 years in Thailand.  She has found that though children moving cross-culturally go through many of the same struggles their parents go through, children also have to deal with different developmental struggles. Corine uses play therapy because of its natural fit to work with children in varying stages of development.

Corine speaks English and Dutch and is married with three boys.
