Born and raised in Canada, Jon graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1988 and was married to Elaine just a month later. After 9 years of telecommunication engineering, God suddenly and unexpectedly, realigned his heart toward full time ministry in Asia. After finishing a graduate degree in Biblical Studies in Chicago, Jon, Elaine and their three boys began ministry in Japan. After a few years of working in Japan as a church planter and leader, he sensed his organisation’s need for member care and began a masters in Clinical Counseling from Liberty University.
Jon loves to listen to people’s stories and has found that 17 years in Asia has helped him to understand the particular challenges and delights that come with working in the Asian context. He brings his own experiences of transition, raising a family in another culture and surviving burnout to his counselling work.
